Athletic Department Announces Fall Schedules


The Columbia College athletic department has announced the schedules for the 2018 men's and women's cross country teams, men's and women's soccer teams, and women's volleyball team.

The men's and women's cross country teams will open their seasons on Saturday, September 1st in Bolivar, Missouri, at the SBU Bearcat Invite. The women's team will run at 8:30 a.m. with the men's team to follow at 9 a.m.

The women's soccer team will open their season on Monday, August 20th when they play host to the John Brown University Golden Eagles in a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 5 p.m. on R. Marvin Owen's Field.

The men's soccer team will kick off their 2018 campaign on Wednesday, August 22nd when they play host to the Bellevue University Bruins in a nonconference game. The match is set to start at 7 p.m. on R. Marvin Owen's Field.

The women's volleyball team is set to open their season on Tuesday, August 21st when they travel to Marshall, Missouri, to take on the Missouri Valley College Vikings in a nonconference matchup. The game is set to start at 7 p.m.

Pitching league results for 7-31-18 include Brady Fox 7-0, Eugene Freels 6-1, Ralph Throckmorton 5-2, Rodney Brewster 4-3, Charlie Maupin 3-4, Bill Hendrix 2-5, Louie Schmidt 1-6 and Joe Jackson 0-7 (DNC).

At the Farber Fun Festival on Aug. 4 Brady Fox was first in Class A, Larry McAfee was second and Eugene Freels finished third. In Class B Charlie Maupin took the top spot, Tom Fox was the runner up and Cody Hubbard came in third.

On Aug. 5 Mexico's Brick City Horseshoe Club faced Beyiers's Double Ringer Horseshoe Club in Travel Trophy action and the score was tied after all games were played, so it came down to a coin toss, which Beyiers won.

Pitching league results for 7-24-18 include Brady Fox 7-0, Throckmorton 6-1, Rodney Brewster 5-2, Joe Jackson 4-3, Schmidt 4-3, Bill Hendrix 2-5, Calyin McGrew 1-6 and Tom Fox 0-7.

At the Center Days Fair on July 28 Maupin and Throckmorton won a double tournament and Freels and Dan Hubbard finished third. Brady Fox was also crowned 'King of the Hill' on July 15 at the Swinkey Picnic at Indian Creek by taking first in the single and doubles contest. coming in second in both contests was Freels.


Jennies Soccer ranked No. 1 in United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll


The defending 2017 NCAA D2 National Champion Jennies Soccer team was ranked No. 1 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll released on Tuesday, August 7.
The Jennies return 19 players from their National Championship team, that went 26-0 overall and 11-0 in the MIAA. While adding nine newcomers, the Jennies are prepared to defend their  championship titles. UCM won their fourth straight MIAA Conference Title, and captured their fourth consecutive Central Regional Championship Title last season. Ending the 2017 season the perfect way, by winning their first ever NCAA D2 National Championship.
The Jennies defeated Carson-Newman University in the National Championship game, who is ranked No. 2 in this years United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll. Followed by Colorado-Springs and Mercy College who are both ranked at No. 3 in this seasons poll.
Jennies Soccer will kick off their season Thursday, August 30 at 3 p.m. at Southwestern Oklahoma State. The Jennies will have their first home game Sunday, Sept. 2nd against Augustana at 1 p.m. at South Rec Complex.
