While it might have just been two games, the Community R-6 varsity softball team had won every game it had played in 2018-19 prior to the holiday weekend and that's an accomplishment first-year coach Madison Henke and her squad were tremendously proud of.

Nothing lasts forever, though, and playing in a new conference is always going to come with its own set of trials and tribulations that are going to vary from one program to the next no matter how much advance planning takes place. That's why there are going to be times this season when the Lady Trojans are going to have to remind themselves that the goal was never to go undefeated, but it's always going to be about improvement, and on Tuesday at Pilot Grove the team was downed 2-0.

"It was a tough game going up against a very experienced team," said Henke. "We had too many mistakes in the field and not enough runners on base."

CR-6, 2-1 overall, 1-1 Capital Activities Conference, next hosts Silex for a non-league game on Friday.
