The Mexico Ledger has hired full-time news reporter Charles Dunlap, who started in the position Monday.
Dunlap comes to Mexico from the Kansas City area, where he worked as a copy editor and page designer for the St. Joseph News-Press in St. Joseph.
He got to know the central Missouri region living in Fulton from 2000-2013 while attending high school and William Woods University. He also worked at a variety of jobs in the area before working as the reporter for The Concordian, a weekly newspaper in Concordia.
After approximately 3.5 years with The Concordian, he had a brief stint as the news editor for the Smithville Herald in Smithville, before moving to work in St. Joseph.
Dunlap said he is excited to be back in central Missouri, not only due to his familiarity with the region, but also his proximity to family still living in Fulton. He has a sister who teaches sixth-grade social studies at Fulton Middle School, and his mother, a licensed practical nurse, works at the state hospital in Fulton.
