Mexico Department of Public Safety was called in the early morning hours Friday to the 700 block of West Jackson Street for a fire at Hardees. Witnesses said they could see flames coming from the building, according to a release from Public Safety.
The department did observe the flames at about 1:19 a.m. coming from the area of the exhaust vents on the roof. The fire was located in the office area of the restaurant where it was spreading to above the drop ceiling The fire was extinguished and the office suffered significant damage, according to a release. The rest of the building also had significant smoke and heat damage.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office was contacted and an investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing. There were no injuries.
