Cougars cursed by Central Baptist

The Columbia College Baseball Team, which is coached by Mexico High School grad. Darren Munns, went to Conway, Arkansas, on Feb. 24 to play Central Baptist and ended up on the wrong end of a shootout 15-10. Standing tall in the fcae of this defeat for the Cougars was Chase Urhann with three hits, two runs and two RBI in four at-bats and Blade McKee cracked four hits with two RBI and a run. That was the teams fifth loss after nine games played.

Columbia is at Missouri Valley for a rescheduled doubleheader March 19.


CMU Women's hoops holds once again

Mexico High School grad Adria Costley and the Central Missouri University Women's Basketball team are ranked 24th for the third week in-a-row by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association as of Feb. 26, 2019. The Jennies came in one point behind Azusa Pacific with 51 points after winning both of their games last week to up their record to 20-5 overall, 13-4 Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletic Association. This marks the third straight year this squad has earned at least 20 wins.

New night for Basketball Challenges

Tonight, Mar. 1, in the gym at Montgomery County High School there will be a a Staff Basketball Game that starts at 7 p.m. There will also be a Basketball Competition that will include a Three-Point contest, a Knock-Out Contest for Elementary and Middle School Student and a Skills Competition. Donations will be collected for the Special Olympics.
