Shirley Joanne Miller, 84, of Mexico, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at Columbia Manor Care Center.

Funeral Services will be at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Second Christian Church in New London. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. 

Shirley Joanne was born October 5, 1934 in Frankford, the daughter of Charles and Thelma (Campbell) Alls. On May 8, 1952 in New London, she married Jesse E. Miller, Sr. He passed away on June 13, 2008.

Mrs. Miller was a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked at Audrain Medical Center in surgery. Later, she worked at the King’s Daughters Home and the Missouri Veterans Home.

She was a member of Second Christian Church in New London, where she had served on the Executive Board.

Survivors include four children, Jesse (Opal) Miller, Jr. of Independence, Thelma (Chester Jr.) Fugate of Mexico, Charles “Chuck” (Virlee Cason) Miller of Kansas City, and Ron Miller of Kansas City; 18 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Willisteen Miller of Mexico, Mary Cathrine (Matthew) Salmon of Vandalia, and Barbara Moore of Springfield, Illinois.

In addition to her husband, Jesse Miller, Sr., she was preceded in death by her father, Charles Alls; her mother, Thelma Nathan; two daughters, Janet Exford and Sheryl Miller; two grandsons, Andre’ Miller and Robert Exford, Jr.; one great-grandson, Amarion Poindexter; and one brother, George Davis.
