When the Community R-6 varsity baseball team was a member of the Eastern Missouri Conference it was the smallest school in the league and the only opponent that was anywhere close was Wellsville-Middletown.

The rest of the league was noticeably larger than the Trojans, and that made it incredibly hard to build a program. That's why CR-6 moved to the Central Activities Conference and that decision is already paying dividends as the girls basketball team won a conference title over the winter in its first year of competition.

This week things haven't been going nearly as well as head coach Joel Krato and team hosted New Franklin on Monday and were downed 21-0.

On Tuesday Louisiana came to town for a non-conference affair, and while this matchup was much closer, in the end it still wound up falling 10-9.

"Great job for Landon Wright at the plate going 3-for-4," said Krato. "Evan Hartsock went 3-for-5 and Levi Rafferty went 2-for-3."

CR-6 is at Missoui Military Academy on Monday and on April 29 the Fighting Colonels travel to MMA.
