The Wellsville-Middletown varsity baseball team had been slated to play at Wright City on Thursday in Eastern Missouri Conference competition, but that contest had to be postponed because of rain according to head coach Earl Burton. The Tigers game on Friday at home against Hermann also did not take place because of weather.
As for the upcoming playoffs, Wellsville-Middletown has been assigned to New Franklin Class 1, District 11 and, as the top seed, drew a round one bye for May 10. The Tigers will instead start the postseason on May 13 at 6: 00 p.m. against the winner of fourth-seeded Community R-6 (5-8 overall) and and fifth-seeded Glasgow (0-4 overall).
On the other side of the brackets number-three New Franklin (6-8 overall) opens against number-six Higbee (0-6 overall) on May 10 at 2:00 p.m. for the right to play Madison (6-3 overall) on May 13 at 4:00 p.m. The district championship will then be decided on May 14 at 5:30 p.m.
CR-6 next takes the diamond today at home against Silex today in league action and the Seniors will be recognized afterwards.
