The Little Dixie Shrine Club, 23847 Hwy J, Mexico, 65265, will host an evening titled, Kickball, Horseshoes, Volleyball, on Sept. 28 from 9:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m. Individuals can enter one or multiple events, food will be available and people will be allowed to bring their own beverages. Historic Village Square

The Mexico Jaycees will be sponsoring the Soybean Festival Aug. 23-24 in Downtown Mexico. Activities will include Carnival Rides from 5:00 p.m-10:00 p.m. in the Auffenberg North Lot on day one, the second day includes Cornhole Registration from noon-1 p.m. in the Beer Garden and on day three the Cornhole Tournament will take place from 2-4 p.m. in the Beer Garden.

Refreshments will be available

The Mexico Brick City Horse Shoe Pitching League will be organizing and opertaing a Horse Shoe Pitching Tournament on Sept. 21 at the Fairgrounds Shelter located at Fairgrounds Park. The registrationn fee is going to be $10 per person, depending on participation there may be singles and doubles categories and registration is at 11:00 a.m. and the event starts at noon. Trophies will be awarded for Classes A, B, C and D and a silent auction will be held for all donated items.

For his role as a teacher prior to getting to promoted to Activities Director, North Callaway's Kevin O'Neal was voted Teacher of the Year along side Barb Borcherding, who was voted Staff of the Year, on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

 

Open to everyone

The Vandalia Prairie Days 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for Sept. 28 from 7:30 a.m.- 9:00 a.m. and will be organized and operated by the Eastern Missouri Family YMCA, 309 South Main, 63382. There will be a silent auction

On Aug. 17 the Fulton Bowling Center, 530 Commons Dr., 65251, will host the Jordan Belcher Memorial Bowling Tournament from noon- 3:00 p.m. There will be plaques for first, second, third, single and family bowling of four and a basket raffle. New age group

The Holts Summit Optimist Club will be sponsoring two co-ed Kickball leagues that will play from Sept. 9- Oct. 7. The age groups will be grades three through five and grades six through eight, cost is $20 per athlete and contests will be played at Holts Summit Ball Park on Howard Field.
