Sunday morning church service was held Sept. 22 in the dining room. In the afternoon, musical entertainment was provided by Nicole Slusser.

The Vietnam War discussion group met the morning of Sept. 23 with Nakole Wooley facilitating. In the afternoon, a pass the trash card game was played. Special care veterans enjoyed music by Ginny Rainey.

A group of veterans went fishing Sept 24 at Jacksonville. Also a game of manipulation was played. In the afternoon, a hi/low card game was played. Special care veterans enjoyed a candy bar bingo game and baking.

Art class was held Sept. 25. Veterans celebrating their birthday was treated to lunch at Brick City Buffet. Pastor Iman held bible study in the chapel directly after lunch. In the afternoon, Vandalia VFW Post #2173 & Auxiliary sponsored and assisted with birthday bingo. Those celebrating a birthday in September were recognized and cake was served to all.

Veterans played bingo Sept. 26. Directly after bingo, a crafts class was held. In the afternoon, a group of veterans went shopping at Wal-Mart. Special care veterans also made tie-dye shirts.

Last Friday morning, a group of veterans went to the Isle of Capri Casino in Boonville. They enjoyed lunch out as well. Another group of veterans enjoyed a game of manipulation. In the afternoon, a poker tournament was held. Special care veterans also enjoyed coffee & donuts.

Family Day was the highlight of Saturday. Veterans and their families began their day with the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the National Anthem sung by Amanda Smith. A barbecue lunch was served with a choice of pulled pork or steak, baked beans, cole slaw, and watermelon. Other food items available were curly fried potatoes, kettle corn, and ice cream. Entertainment was provided by Kelly Stanford.


The Mexico Assistance League will be hosting a dice run on Saturday. Registration begins at 10 a.m. with the last vehicle out at 11 a.m. Last vehicle in at 3:30 p.m. All proceeds will be used to help purchase a new transport bus for the home.
