The St. Louis American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in conjunction with Audrain County Relay for Life are holding a supply drive at locations around Mexico.
Hope Lodges serve more than 2,000 patients and caregivers free of charge, according to a news release. More than 26,000 have been served since their founding in 1995. The lodge has created a wishlist of supplies. The drive is in memory of Joe Offutt and other cancer patients who have benefited using this home away from home.
Sydenstricker Implement, SSM Health Cancer Center and the Audrain County Assessor's office are collecting items now through Oct. 31. A supply drive will happen 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Moser's Another supply drive and bake sale will happen 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 28, at the Audrain County Courthouse rotunda.
The greatest need is for vacuum cleaners, disinfectant wipes, toilet paper, paper towels and laundry detergent pods. Other items needed include bathroom cleaners, brooms, mops, dish detergent gel tabs, disposable plates, napkins, aluminum foil, freezer bags [gallon or quart], kitchen staples [flour, sugar, creamer, ground coffee and more], white copy paper and black ink pens.
Monetary donations also are accepted, with $100 providing enough for laundry detergent, coffee, creamer and other kitchen supplies for one month.
