A Mexico resident received moderate injuries Saturday in an early morning crash in which he was reportedly driving while intoxicated.

Devin C. Middleton, 26, was driving a 2013 Mini Cooper northbound at about 12:05 a.m. on Audrain County Route J north of Bean Creek when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, striking several trees, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. He was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, first offense, and careless and imprudent driving involving a motor vehicle crash.

He was released into medical care and taken by ambulance to SSM Health St. Mary's Hospital–Audrain. The vehicle was totaled. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to the report. Troopers were assisted by the Audrain County Sheriff's Office.
