Local history buffs will have a chance to join with retired MSNBC political commentator Chris Matthews and others for a discussion on legendary British Prime Minister Winston Churchill in honor of National Churchill Day.


Matthews, host of Hardball with Chris Matthews, will join Allen Packwood, director of the Churchill Archives Centre at Churchill College at noon on Thursday for a live webcast which will focus on how Churchill’s steady leadership relates to the coronavirus pandemic, according to a news release from America’s National Churchill Museum.


Westminster College in Fulton holds a special place in the legacy of Churchill. It was there in March 1946 he made his famous "Iron Curtain" speech. Moderators for the discussion will include Timothy Riley, the Sandra L. and Monroe E. Trout Director and Chief Curator of America’s National Churchill Museum on the campus of Westminster.
