The Audrain County Health Department on Monday announced the first death in the county related to COVID-19.

Of the 1,127 county residents tested for the coronavirus, 97 tested positive as of Tuesday afternoon. The number of total cases increased Wednesday to 101. All cases are from community transmission, which means the residents do not know how they came in contact with the virus.

There currently are 40 active cases of COVID-19 in Audrain County, with 60 recovered. Six residents were hospitalized as of Monday and several test results are pending.
