Pittsburg, Texas - James (Skip) Wilton DuBus, 79, formerly of Jonesboro, Arkansas, passed from this life of natural causes at Pleasant Springs Healthcare in Mount Pleasant, Texas on Sunday, May 13th, 2018.
He was born September 16th, 1938 to the late Gladys and Joe DuBus in Jonesboro, Arkansas. James attended Jonesboro Public Schools graduating from Jonesboro High School. He went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree from Arkansas State University where he was a proud member of the Indian Band and ROTC. James went on to teach in Jonesboro, Malden, Risko and Mexico, Missouri. James received a Master of Education degree from the Arkansas State University. While in Mexico he became a school counselor. He later went to work for A.P. Green, the State of Missouri Department of Education and was elected to the Mexico School Board. In 1981 James and his family relocated to Dallas, Texas where he worked for Fischbach and Moore, LLC. He then returned to education, serving in the Plano and Arlington Independent School Districts as well as the Kansas City, Missouri school district. He retired as Assistant Superintendent in Mount Pleasant, Texas.
James is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anna Madean (Blalock) DuBus; his children, James Kendall DuBus of Pittsburg, Texas and Lyle Wilton DuBus (Lisa) of Mexia, Texas, and his brother, Joseph Richard DuBus (Ruth) of Jefferson City, Missouri. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday evening, May 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gregg-Langford-Bookout Funeral Home, Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Services will be Saturday, May 19th at 1:00 PM at the funeral home followed by burial at Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.
