Melinda Sue Meranda, 65, of Mexico, formerly of Perry, passed away at 10:19 p.m., Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at University Hospital in Columbia. Cremation rites were accorded under the direction of Bienhoff Funeral Homes.

She was born January 7, 1953 in Perry, the daughter of Richard Ollie and Sarah Esther Shrewsberry Myers.

She was married to Eric Meranda on October 1, 1988 in Shelbina and he survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Scott (Juli) McClain of Mexico and Keith (Traci) Meranda, of Vandalia; one brother, John (Mary) Myers of Laddonia; three grandchildren, Dylan McClain and Blake (Shea) O'Rourke both of Mexico and Rylie Nicole Meranda of Vandalia; and two great grandchildren, Brylan Jase McClain and Liam O'Rouke, both of Mexico.

She was preceded in death by: two brothers, Bob Myers and Tom Myers; three sisters, Pat Little, Shan Lewis and Evelyn Walls.

Mrs. Meranda was a lifetime area resident and a 1971 graduate of Mark Twain High School. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Mexico. She worked as a cook for Picador Restaurant for many years. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and sewing for the grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. with Memorial services to follow at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Mexico on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 with Reverend Woody Berry officiating. Inurnment will be a private family service.
