Daniel R. “D.R.” Miller, 92, of rural Benton City, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018 at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 5th at 1:30 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
He was born on his family farm on February 18, 1926 to Daniel R. Miller, Sr. and Lela Mae (Brenton) Miller. On December 15, 1951 he married Barbara Ann (Stuart) Miller at the First Christian Church in Mexico.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by a son, Stuart Daniel Miller and his wife Pam, and a grandson, Stuart Daniel Miller, Jr. and his wife Madison. He is also survived by three nephews and one niece, Keith G. Beatty, Gary L. Beatty, Douglas V. Stuart and Debbie (Stuart) Aiello.
D. R. lived his life on the farm, working the soil, raising crops and tending to his livestock, cattle and hogs. He also served as a Deputy Sheriff for eleven years. He was a member of the First Christian Church of Mexico where se served as a Deacon. He served as a Director of Consolidated Electric. He was a graduate of Mexico High School and was a military veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, and assigned to occupied Japan immediately after the end of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Bonniejean Beatty.
