Mary Therese Appling, 68, of St. Charles, Missouri, formerly of Martinsburg, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Ms. Appling was born October 1, 1950 in Mexico, Missouri. She was the eleventh of twelve children and the daughter of Clarence William and Julia Barat (Sampson) Pursifull.

She attended St. Joseph School in Martinsburg and graduated from Community R-VI High School in 1969. She worked 9 years for Dr. S.J. Byland in Wellsville, Missouri. In 1987 she graduated from the Registered Nursing program at Moberly Area Community College with highest honors. She was awarded the Clinical Award for the outstanding student in her class demonstrating excellence in nursing.

Therese worked at Audrain Medical Center for 4 years and the VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri from 1991-2011 as an operating room nurse.

Therese was a member of St. Cletus Catholic Church in St. Charles. Therese loved to sew and knit, and was an accomplished cook and baker and had the most beautiful handwriting. She loved spending time with her family and friends, traveling, researching family history, and attending auctions.

Therese is survived by her two children; Paul (Debbie) Appling of Columbia, Missouri and Maria (Mark) Snyder of St. Charles, Missouri; 4 Grandchildren, Emma Snyder of St. Charles, Missouri, Erica Helling and Ryan Helling of Mexico, Missouri and Jessica Helling of Columbia, Missouri; 5 Great Grandchildren, James Lee, Cameron Lee, Brooklyn Lee, Zander Hoffman, and Zade Hoffman all of Columbia, Missouri; siblings, Francis Joseph (Joann) Pursifull of Louisiana, Vincent Paul (Carol) Pursifull of Martinsburg, James Anthony Pursifull of Columbia, Maureen Ann (Andy) Ehret of Martinsburg, Raymond Joseph (Bonnie) Pursifull, of Mexico, and George Edward Pursifull of Hazelwood; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Pursifull, of Ashley, Betty Pursifull, of Martinsburg and Jane Pursifull, of Titusville, Florida. Therese was also so proud and blessed to have many devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, great-great nieces and nephews. She was so very loved and will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind.

Therese was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, William Clarence Pusifull, John James Pursifull, and Thomas Patrick George Pursifull; sisters, Julia Jane Pursifull and Rosemary Ann Byland; brother-in-law, Dr. Samuel Byland and sister-in-law Gillian Pursifull.

Visitation will be held from 8:00-9:30 a.m., Friday, March 8, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg, Missouri. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Father Augustine Okoli will officiate.

Interment will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, south of Martinsburg. Serving as pallbearers will be her nephews, Adam Pursifull, Brian Pursifull, Colin Pursifull, Pat Pursifull, Roger Pursifull and Simon Pursifull.

Services are under the direction of Myers Funeral Home in Wellsville.
