Ray Marvin Flynn came into this world on April 29, 1940, as the first-born son of Marvin & Wilma Flynn of Martinsburg, MO, who preceded him in death. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marika Plevinski on October 8, 1965. She survives him of the home.

An intensely private person, Ray had a heart as large as the great outdoors, a temper to beat the band, and a work ethic that was unmatched. He was a Navy Veteran and the humblest of people, with a deep sense of pride and the hard-won knowledge that the things that matter in this world are not things at all. He had no time for small talk, told the worst dad-jokes you’ve ever heard, and carried with him a passion for farming, livestock and nature that lasted his entire life. His lack of patience coupled with extreme honesty made him a terrible fisherman, and his ability to never stop learning made him an accomplished cattleman. He was very proud of the times he topped the market with his select group of calves.

He left his three beloved children Kristy (Chris) Albus of Mexico, MO; Patrick (Melinda) Flynn of Ashland, MO & Laura (Travis) Smith of Harrisburg, MO with an abundance of flowers, trees, and the inability to look anywhere in their farms or yards without seeing a place that he touched during his years of retirement from Local 513 as a heavy equipment operator.

Ray Flynn left this world suddenly on the evening of April 12, 2019, just shy of his 79th birthday, after a full day doing his favorite things. Dropping off fresh eggs, sipping coffee with his wife of 54 years while enjoying the cake she had baked him, and most important to his daily routine, bantering with, lecturing and texting most of his children and five grandchildren (Katie, Rheanna, Allie, Mia & Zane). He never missed a chance to tell them he loved them and was proud of them. One of his last text messages was “May God Be With You All”. A private celebration of life is planned for the family.
