A group of unknown people reportedly took items from unlocked vehicles in Mexico on Friday night. One car was reported stolen during this crime wave and witnesses told police that at least one person in the group was armed.
The first call to the Mexico Public Safety Department came shortly after 10 p.m. It involved a disturbance in the 1300 block of Paris Road in which one of the people involved displayed a weapon.
Witnesses described the suspect as a black male, 5'10'' tall with a slim build. They told police he was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.
About two hours later MPSD received several calls from residents in the same general area. They reported a number of people were stealing money and electronics left inside unlocked vehicles. One of the subjects fit the description of the man involved in the Paris Road incident.
Investigating officers located a silver Ford F-250 that had been reported stolen out of Boone County parked in the neighborhood.
On Saturday just before 6 a.m., officers learned that a blue 2010 Mercedes had been stolen during the early morning hours from that same part of town. They later learned that the vehicle had been seen by law enforcement in Boone County.
MPSD officers are investigating the incidents. There were no injuries.
