Community pushes past Slater

For the second game in a row, an early offensive outburst put the Trojans in good stead.

Two in the first and two more in the second gave Kylie Brooks and Shelby Clark more than enough to work with as the pair kept Slater off balance in a 7-2 win.

Brooks went 5 innings for the win, with Clark coming on in relief. Neither allowed an earned run.

Meanwhile Olivia Kuda and Alexis Welch combined in the middle of the order to overpower the visitors. Both were 3 for 4 on the evening. Kuda collected 3 RBI and scored twice. Welch drove in two and scored a run.

Sarah Angel helped tee things up from the leadoff slot. She scored both times she reached base. Rylee Rafferty’s double drove in a run.

Trojans hold off Cairo

A five-run first inning and a solid outing by Community R-6 hurler Paige Painter helped the Trojans secure a 9-5 win at Cairo on Tuesday evening.

Sarah Angel and Olivia Schafer reached base to open the game. Olivia Kuda followed with a double, scoring both runners.

Kuda crossed the plate and the Trojans added two more. It was not enough to be secure, however. Cairo rallied for three in the bottom of the third.

But Community was able to pull away behind the hitting of Alexis Welch, Brooklyn Glasgow and Ivy Hays. Welch drove in 3 runs.

Painter gave up just 2 earned runs in seven inning pitched.

"She stepped up and threw strikes and made our defense work and make good plays," said head coach Kody Asquith.
