An investigation is continuing following two fires in Mexico during the early morning hours of Friday, Dec. 23, 2022.
According to a press release from Mexico Public Safety sent out on Friday, Jan. 6, 2023 both incidents have been under investigation by Mexico Public Safety and the Missouri State Fire Marshal's Office and it has been determined that both fires were caused by a person or persons.
"No one is custody, and we can not comment on whether there are any suspects at this time due to this being an ongoing investigation," said Mexico Public Safety Major Brice Mesko.
60-year-old Ruth Ann Stuart died in the apartment fire on West Breckenridge. Anyone with information about either fire is asked to call CRIMESTOPPERS at (573)-473-8477 or (573) 473-TIPS or Mexico Public Safety at (573) 473-5800 or (573) 581-2100.
