During her final meeting as a member of the Audrain County Health Board, Dr. Kathleen Weaver was recognized for her years of service.
At the meeting on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, Audrain County Health Department Administrator and CEO Craig Brace read a letter commending Weaver for service to Audrain County residents through her position as pas chairperson of the board and as a physician and orthopedic surgeon in the Audrain County community.
"Your leadership, as Chairwoman of the Board, helped the Audrain County Health Department through challenging times and provided guidance to extend our scope of services to area residents," the letter from Brace read in part.
Dr. Weaver closed her doctor's office in Mexico twice in 2021 in order for her and her staff to assist in the vaccination of area residents at two of the mass vaccination clinics held by the Audrain County Health Department at the Mexico Memorial Airport and the Mexico Area Family YMCA. In 2022, Dr. Weaver was also the recipient of the inaugural William "Bill" Johnson Advocate for Public Health Award. Dr. Weaver served as a member of the Board of Health from 2014 until 2023. During that time she held the position of chairwoman of the board for four of those eight years.
The Audrain County Health Department Board of Health is composed of five members of the Audrain County community that come from various backgrounds. Current board members include Johnson-Ekern, Barb Wilson, Darla Eggers and Andre Brown. Janis Deimeke, will begin her term in April of 2023.
