Gary Ray McCray, 79, of Mokane passed away at Capital Region Medical Center on Dec. 3, 2020.

He was born in Mokane, on April 14, 1941 to the late Jesse McCray and the late Ruby (Mealy) McCray.

On Feb. 19, 1966, Gary was united in marriage to Doris (Leach) McCray. She preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 2011.

In 1963, Gary started McCray’s Welding and Ditching. He was an active member of The Church of God (Holiness) of Fulton. He was a member of the board for several years and on the Advisory Council of Harmony Hill Youth Camp. For many years, he was a member of the Callaway Camp of Gideons International, where he served in several offices and the local jail ministry. He was also a member of Missouri Land Improvement Contractors Association. Born with a servant’s heart, he did what he could to help others every chance he could. Gary enjoyed volunteering at the Harmony Hill Youth Camp. Gary was the go-to person if you had a question regarding his family’s history or Callaway County History. Family was most important to him and enjoyed every minute spent with them.

He is survived by daughter, Loretta Taylor (Dwight) of Mexico; sons, Gerald McCray (Dottie) of Mokane, and Chuck McCray (Carrie) of Fulton; sister, Sharon Lea Norris of Edinburgh, Ind.; and grandchildren, Audreonna Taylor-Murray (Dwight), Darrin Taylor, Rylee McCray, Ellie McCray, Alaina McCray, Cody McCray, and Ty McCray.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 8, at Church of God (Holiness) in Fulton with Rev. Travis Sayler officiating.

Friends will be received from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 7, 2020 at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton. Interment will be in Steedman Cemetery.
