Katie Nichols, 96, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, Oct. 30, 2020, at Monroe Manor in Paris, Missouri.

Graveside Memorial Services are 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2 at East Lawn Memorial Park with David Hartgrove officiating.

Mrs. Nichols was born on Sept. 20, 1924, in Mexico, the daughter of Robert and Edna Smith. On Aug. 30, 1946, in Mexico, she married Gale Nichols. He passed away on Oct. 10, 2016.

Katie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan. She spent some of her leisure time bowling for the Florsheim bowling team. Katie reserved Sundays for attending services at the First Baptist Church followed by cooking dinner for an ever-growing family. Katie spent 38 years working for the Florsheim Shoe Company in Mexico.

Survivors include her daughter, Debbie (Tony) Eikel of Mexico; two sisters, Wilma Simpson of Centralia, Shirley (J.W.) Albright of Centralia; two grandchildren, Amy (Dennis Lunceford) Eikel of Mexico, Emily (Steven) Stuart of Mexico; six great-grandchildren, Alex Newbrough, Taylor Newbrough, Aidan Newbrough, Tylie Newbrough, Carly Stuart and Easton Stuart.

Mrs. Nichols was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Claude Smith; three sisters; Estelle Munford, Flossie Bybee and Janie Rawlings.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Monroe Manor or an organization of the donor’s choice. Memorials may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
