Lady T-Birds fall to South Callaway

A second-half rally fell short for the North Callaway Lady Thunderbirds in a 49-41 loss at South Callaway Monday night. The Lady T-Birds started slow, falling behind 15-5 after one quarter and trailing 26-17 at the half. But the ladies came out strong in the third, fueled by a 10-point quarter from senior Kyanne Kellerman. Kellerman would finish with 14 points to lead North Callaway and added 3 rebounds.

Pulling to within six points in the second half, the early deficit proved to be too much to overcome.

“We got in foul trouble early,” said coach Tim Turlington.

Turlington likes his team’s fire and feels they’ll continue to show improvement as the season moves down the 2022 stretch.

“The girls never quit,” he said. “We were right there.”

Senior Ryelle Schmauch had 5 assists and 5 steals.

South Callaway improves to 6-3; the Lady Thunderbirds record is now 2-7.

Lady Thunderbirds JV wins

In the North versus South two-quarter junior varsity game, the Lady Thunderbirds won 19-6. Lia Bondurant led the team with 8 points. Reagan Arrowood had all six of South Callaway’s points.

North Callaway’s jayvee improves to 2-2 and South Callaway falls to 1-4.
