The Community R-6 softball team won one of three games in the Paris Tournament last Saturday, but rebounded with a 10-1 rout of Mark Twain on Monday.
The Lady Trojans are now sitting on a 11-4 record.
Against Mark Twain,Community jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the opening inning. The Lady Trojans collected 15 hits overall. Emma and Sarah Angel, Alexix Welch, Emmi Johnson and Emily Hoyt each had multiple hits. McCailyn Drainer also smacked a homer.
Emma Angel earned the win on the mound. She allowed four hits and struck out five.
In the Paris Tournament, Community opened with a 16-1 win over the host school and then fell to Salisbury 5-1 and Clark County 10-6.
Against Paris, Johnson drove in four runs, including smacking a home run during the team’s seven-run fourth inning to take control. Sarah Angel recorded the win, striking out two and allowing two hits.
In the second game, Salisbury fell behind early and couldn’t recover. Emma Angel suffered the loss. She gave up five runs on 11 hits while striking out five and walking one.
Against Clark County, both teams combined for 21 hits as the Indians pulled away for good with three runs in the second inning and tacked on three more in the fifth. Emma Angel pitched five innings and struck out five.
Johnson, Hoyt and Emma and Sarah Angel all had multiple hits for the Lady Trojans in the loss.
