Mexico Chamber launches new mobile app

Posted

Thanks to a new mobile app, Mighty MexMo, launched by the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce, anyone with access to a smartphone can now peruse information from the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce at the click of a button with the Chamber’s new app.

Available on the iOS App Store and Google Play, the app has everything a visitor or resident may need to find a business they are looking for in the city of Mexico.

The new app supports people who are on the go and adds convenience to visitors to Mexico. Instead of online searching for restaurants, hotels, or outdoor activities, the new app provides individuals with a more straightforward solution.

As a catalyst of business growth, a connector of people, ideas, and resources, the Chamber aims to bring resourceful and relevant tools to the community. Dana Keller, Executive Director of the Mexico Area Chamber of Commerce, stated that the Mexico Tourism Commission constantly searches for ways to best use the funds collected from the Mexico Tourism tax received from our local hotel and motel stays.

“We want to promote overnight stays and visits to Mexico. This seemed the perfect way to support the businesses and organizations across the board and support tourism and special events.”

The app was generously supported financially by the Mexico Tourism Commission to help eliminate costs to local businesses and organizations and collaborated with the City Clerk and the City Economic Development to build the basic listings for everyone.

“The chamber could not have managed the effort without the steadfast support of the City of Mexico,” said Keller.

Keller further explained that the app benefits businesses by adapting their listing to serve them best. “As the business requests it, we can give them a link specific to that business so that they can add special features such as sales, services, menus, even the ability to send push notifications to their customers.”

The app also offers links to schedules for special events such as Miss Missouri, Walk Back In Time, Soybean Festival, even Parents Weekends at MMA.

According to Keller, community members, visitors, former residents, or anyone interested can download the app free from the Play Store or Apple Store. Still, the app can also benefit individuals not local to Mexico. For example, the parents of a student attending the Missouri Military Academy can stay connected to the community through a user-friendly app.

”It is an instant connection to Mexico businesses, services, organizations, churches, and nonprofits.”

The app is laid out to provide the most convenient for users. Users will find Eat, Shop, Play, and Stay tabs on the homepage. If you click on an individual tab, the app will take you to a page reflective of that specific topic. For example, if you want a list of local places to eat, click on the Eat tab, and you will be directed to a page of all the local eating establishments, categorized by food ethnicity. If visitors are looking for activities, they could click Play and be directed to a page of indoor and outdoor activities available in Mexico.

To be included on the app, all that is needed is a city business license. If a chamber member is located outside the city limits but has a Mexico mailing address, they can still request to be added to the app.

Although the app took a few months longer to finish than anticipated, since going live in November, the community has already utilized it in positive ways.

Search “Might MexMo” on the iOS or Google Play Store to download the app.
