Mr. Stanley L. Spotswood, 95, of Warrenton, Mo, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Warrenton Manor in Warrenton with his loving family by his side.

Graveside Services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, at Elmwood Cemetery with Chaplain Raymond Doussard officiating.

Visitation is Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of services at Pickering Funeral Home.

Stanley was born on August 2, 1927, in Berkeley, Mo, on Wabash Avenue. He was the son of Lemuel Peyton and Irene Hazel (Mayes) Spotswood.

Mr. Spotswood attended Berkeley High School from 1944-1946 and enlisted in the United States Air Force on October 1, 1946. He finished his final year of high school during his military service, receiving a diploma in 1947.

He attended Hadley Technical School for Mechanical Drafting and worked most of his career in the Aeronautical Industry (McDonnell Aircraft, McDonnell Douglas Corp. and Boeing Aircraft).

Stanley was married to Evelyn Nance on September 15, 1951, in Berkeley, Mo, at the First Baptist Church. For most of their married life, they lived in Ferguson, and St. Peters. Evelyn preceded him in death on February 25, 2006. On June 14, 2005 he married Dorothy (Dickey) Bonsall and they lived in Mexico. Dorothy preceded him in death on September 3, 2015.

Mr. Spotswood was a member of the First Baptist Church in Berkeley, where his dad was a founder of the church and helped build it in 1933. He also taught Sunday school there.

Stanley’s interests included forestry, genealogy, hunting, swimming and fishing. He loved the outdoors and anything to do with airplanes. He was a Boy Scout Leader at Berkeley Baptist Church where he was a member, and he was a life member of the NRA.

Survivors include three sons, Steve Spotswood of St. Charles, Stanley Raymond Spotswood of Waynesville, N.C., and Keith Allen Spotswood of Greenville, S.C.; two daughters, Terry Spotswood Treadway (Paul) of St. Ann, and Sandy K. Williams of Warrenton,; nine grandchildren, Anna Spotswood (Clark) of St. Louis, Sonny Spotswood (Ashley) of O’Fallon, Nicole Spotswood of St. Louis, Dawn Hochman (Paul) of St. John, Melissa Treadway (Nick) of St. Louis, Kerry Dennis (Jim) of Effingham, Ill., Hannah Jenson (Evan) of Waynesville, Lydia Grab (Nate) of Omaha, Ark., and Sherah Lawton (Nate) of Waynesville; and 12 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Stephen and Izaiah Spotswood, Gavin and Jaxin Hochman, Ali and Christopher Roberts, Abigail, Elena, Issiac and Eden Jenson, and Myra Jane Grab.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 50 years, Evelyn Spotswood; his second wife of 10 years, Dorothy Spotswood; four brothers, Leland, Merle, Aaron and David Spotswood; one son-in-law, David P. Williams; and one daughter-in-law, Amy Spotswood.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They may be sent in care of Pickering Funeral Home, 403 N. Western St., Mexico, MO 65265.
