Mexico played a close one with Kirksville on Friday night.
The Bulldogs lost 6-3 to their North Central Missouri Conference foe but had good feelings that Senior Night for its two seniors: Brendan McKeown and Trevor Wright. Mexico falls to 5-7 overall in duals and 1-3 in conference duals.
The returning state medalist McKeown won his singles match 10-5, and Brixton Goerne won 10-2 in singles. Goerne earned his second victory of the day with partner Carter Blackburn in a 10-6 doubles win.
Mexico lost four matches that were decided by three or less points. Wright lost his singles match 10-8, Boston Davolt dropped singles 10-7, Blackburn was edged out in singles 11-9, and McKeown and Davolt lost 10-8 in doubles.
Mexico hosts Hannibal (5-7, 2-2 NCMC) at 4 p.m. Monday.
