Danny Lee Hoagland, 70, of Mexico, went to be with his Lord and savior on Friday, April 19, 2024, at his home.   

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 25, at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Vandalia Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Danny was born on January 19, 1954, in Vandalia, the son of Richard Allen Hoagland and Neal (Riney) Hoagland, O'Leary. He was a 1972 graduate of Wellsville-Middletown R-1 High School and attended Northeast Missouri State College in Kirksville and Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield.

Danny previously worked during the late 1970's at CE Refractories.  After moving to Texas in 1984, he worked several years for Mori-Seiki and then Wells Fargo. He returned to Missouri in 2018 and worked for True Manufacturing until retiring in 2020.

In his younger years, Danny enjoyed playing slow-pitch softball with a Vandalia team called the “Express.” He was an avid sports fan and after moving to Texas, he became a fan of the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Danny really enjoyed watching the Rangers win the World Series last year. Listening to music also brought much enjoyment to his life.  He enjoyed spending time with his family to celebrate the holidays and special events.

Once back in Missouri, he attended Lockewood Park Baptist Church. His Christian faith and reading the bible was an important part of his life.

Survivors include one brother, Jerry (Karen) Hoagland of Mexico; one nephew, Jeffrey (Holly) Hoagland of Mexico; one niece, Kimberly (Luke) Gramke of Centralia; four great-nephews and nieces, Will (Madasyn) Davis of Holts Summit and Chayse Davis of Mexico, and Riley and Camden Gramke; and four step-siblings. He is also survived by three aunts and several cousins.

Danny was preceded in death by his mother, Neal Riney O’Leary; his father, Richard Allen Hoagland; and his step-father, Allan H. O’Leary, Jr.
