Mexico was effective from long distances on Friday.

The Bulldogs hosted the Ron Whittaker Classic and achieved some significant performances in the long-distance events. Tyler Grimes won the 800-meter run and Andrew Peuster won the 3200 as part of the sixth-place boys that earned 71 points out of 12 schools, and Maggie Ramsey finished third in the girls 3200.

Hunter Bickell finished fourth in the boys 1600 to add to the distance success, and the 4x100, 4x400 and 4x200 relay teams earned second-, second- and third-place finishes, respectively. Alex Rowan and Davontae Frame each were fifth in the 200- and 400-meter dashes.

For the girls, Emma Seibert was fifth in the 300-meter hurdles, the girls 4x800 relay team was fifth, and Alexandra Terry was sixth in the pole vault.

Centralia boys runner-up in Mexico, girls finish fourth

Centralia finished high in the standings on Friday in Mexico.

The boys were the runner-up behind Hannibal — who swept the team competitions with the boys scoring 115.5 points and the girls scoring 123 points — with 109 points, and the girls were fourth out of 12 schools with 92 points. Centralia won five events.

For the boys, Beau Hatton won the 110-meter hurdles and high jump, Cayden Dunn was first in the 300 hurdles, and Josh Russell won the discus. Finishing third were Wesley Robertson in the 3200, Ethan Ross in the long jump and pole vault, Logan Rosenfelder in the triple jump, and the 4x800 relay was also third.

For the girls, the 4x400 relay team won its race at the end of the night. Becca Erisman in the 400, Kassena Ridgel in the discus and Claire Brinkman in the high jump each were second. Finishing third were Kenedee Moss in the 800 and 1600, Claire Page in the pole vault, Cora King in the discus and shot put, and Harper Forshee in the javelin.

On the same day at the Tomahawk Relays in Hallsville, Carter Moss finish second in the boys 800 while Anna Miller’s seventh place in the discus was the Centralia girls’ best finish.

Friday followed Centralia sweeping the Montgomery County Invitational on Monday, winning both team competitions out of 13 schools and winning 12 individual events. The boys winners were Jacob Beard in the pole vault, Russell in the discus, the 4x800 relay and Rohan Holiman in the 800 and 1600. The girls winners were Moss in the 800, the 4x800 relay, the 4x200 relay, the 4x400 relay, Shelby Lewis in the 200 and 400, and Forshee in the javelin.

North Callaway’s Craighead wins javelin in Carrollton

Isiah Craighead picked up another victory for North Callaway in the javelin.

Craighead won the boys javelin on Friday during the Bruce Finlayson Invitational in Carrollton. Pressley Schmauch finished third in the 1600 and 3200 to lead the girls to a fifth-place finish out of 15 schools with 57.5 points. The boys were ninth out of 15 schools with 43 points.

Lane Kimbley was second in the boys pole vault, and the boys 4x100 relay team was fourth. Braelyn Kuda was fourth in the girls 100 hurdles, Madyson Gordon was fourth in the girls pole vault, and the girls 4x100 and 4x800 relay teams were each fourth.
