Ninety-two Mexico High School (MHS) students received their academic letter at the sophomore/junior academic assembly, held in March. Students have to have over a 3.5 GPA for the entirety of their MHS career to qualify. The NHS program is led by teacher sponsor Jennifer Silver. Mrs. Colleen and Mrs. Jennifer Barnett also assisted with the evening’s program. NHS began in 1921 with the support of the National Association of Secondary Principals (NASSP) and a vision from D. Edward Rynearson, principal of a high school in Pennsylvania. His goal for NHS was to create an organization that supports student scholarship as well as service, leadership, and character in the young minds of our nation. Today there are over 16,000 active chapters.
