Some area basketball players and coaches stack up well with the rest in the northeast region.
Mexico, Community R-6, Van-Far, Paris and Missouri Military Academy had representatives on the Northeast Media all-district team announced last week.
For Mexico, the boys had four make the Class 4 and 5 team and also head coach Darren Pappas was named the coach of the year and the Class 4, 5 and 6 KMZU coach of the year. DJ Long and Jaydon Eldridge made the media first team, and PJ Perkins and Kaden Benne were selected to the second team. Long and Perkins were also named to the Class 4, 5 and 6 KMZU Dream Team, and Long was selected as the player of the year. The Lady Bulldogs had Claire Hudson make the first team and Jo Thurman selected as a second-team member and then both made the Class 4, 5 and 6 KMZU Dream Team.
Community R-6 had two girls honored in Class 1, including Kylie Brooks on the first team and Peyton Beamer on the second team.
The Van-Far boys added two Class 2 first-team members in Nikos Connaway and Pacey Reading to their postseason honors along with coach of year Pat Connaway.
Paris had one girl and one boy selected for Class 2, which was Melanie Moore for the first team and Colton Kendrick for the second team.
Nathan Dempsey gave Missouri Military Academy a second-team member in Class 3.
