For the second straight week, area golfers were in Columbia for the Missouri Junior Tour.
Mexico’s Aidan Knipfel and Centralia’s Kennedy Dickerson, ReaLee Smith and Adam Smith competed June 21 in the Missouri Golf Association event at Lake of the Woods Golf Course. Seven days prior, the group were at A.L. Gustin Golf course.
Knipfel had a better finish than his 13th place at A.L. Gustin by shooting an 83, or 12-over par, to earn eighth place out of 13 in the 16-18 boys group. Through the front nine, he scored a 38, or three-over par, after tallying three bogeys but had a bogey or worse on most of the back nine holes. He had two pars on the back nine for a 45, or nine-over par and now sits fourth in the tour standings with 75 points — 70 behind first place.
Smith finished 13th after scoring a 107.
ReaLee Smith fell a spot from her A.L. Gustin finish by taking sixth at Lake of the Woods. She shot an 89, or 18-over par, stringing together three of her five pars on the eighth, ninth and 10th holes, and is eighth in the tour standings with 73 points — 102 points behind first place.
Dickerson finished seventh in the 16-18 girls group as she did seven days before at A.L. Gustin. She shot a 92, or 21-over par, starting the front nine with two pars but only adding one more par or better the rest of the day. In the standings, she is ahead of Smith with 77 points.
