MPSD makes arrest in alleged lewd acts

On Monday, July 31, an alert area resident notified the Mexico Public Safety Department (MPSD) they were concerned about Dominique D. O’Toole, age 21 of Mexico was in an inappropriate relationship with a juvenile. About 3:46 p.m., officers arrived at O’Toole’s home in the 2700 block of S Clark Street and found him in the company of a 14-year-old female from Callaway County. Additional investigation indicated there was a relationship between the two. O’Toole was eventually taken to the Audrain County Jail for statutory rape second degree and statutory sodomy second degree. The juvenile was returned home.

MPSD warns of scam tatics

The Mexico Public Safety Department has become aware of an increase in scams of area residents lately. Residents are reminded that:

No company that you do business with will call you and then need your identification information.
Think about calling a company back or emailing the company back using numbers or email addresses you have, not ones they give you.
It is common to try and create panic by saying you have been hacked or you will be charged with something. That is so you take less time to consider what is going on.
No legitimate company will require you to pay them with cash cards
No legitimate person will give you money to use your bank accounts to cash their checks
