Mexico can't find winning run in loss at Kirksville 

It was a race to see who  would find the winning run on Friday in Kirksville. 

After Mexico was tied with the Tigers (6-2, 1-2 NCMC) at 3 following two innings, the game remained there until Connor Hall’s walk-off double in the seventh inning. The Bulldogs retired the first two batters but allowed a walk and then an error.

Mexico finished with four hits, including a Sam Ryan RBI single and a Chance McCarty double that turned into a run via a wild pitch. Ryan pitched all 6 ⅔ innings with seven hits, four strikeouts, two earned runs and two walks.

Community R-6 picks up back-to-back wins

After a rout, Community R-6 took down a bigger school.

In their conference opener Friday, the Trojans won 18-3 in five innings at Central Activities Conference foe and then won 7-3 at Class 6 Ritenour. 

Community (4-2, 1-0 CAC) defeated Madison (0-4, 0-1 CAC) for the fifth straight time, scoring double-digit runs in all five wins. Eli Johnson finished 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI and a double, and Mason Carroll was 3-for-4 with four runs, two RBI and a home run. Mason Rohan and Drake Welch each had three RBI and a double, and Brant Cope and Kyler Swaim each added three RBI. Welch struck out eight and allowed two runs in three innings, and Caden Thomas struck out four and allowed one run in two innings.

Against Ritenour (0-2), Carroll struck out 12 in seven innings to go with eight hits and one earned run. He also was 2-for-3 at the plate with a RBI and a triple, Johnson was perfect again at the plate by going 3-for-3 with two runs and a double, and Rohan, Cope and Welch each added a RBI. 

Community’s junior varsity defeated Ritenour 15-4 in five innings with nine hits. Mark Zelle had three RBI, and Johnson struck out seven in 2⅔ shutout innings.

Van-Far beats Wellsville-Middletown, Louisiana early to follow pair of losses

Van-Far needed a win last week.

After losing twice during the week, the Indians defeated Eastern Missouri Conference foe Wellsville-Middletown 15-0 in three innings. Van-Far only needed six hits to score its runs due to having four extra-base hits.

Carson Huff had a two-RBI triple, Reece Culwell went 2-for-3 with a RBI double, Ronnie Stanich had a RBI double, and Gaven Gaston went 2-for-2 with a RBI and a triple. Culwell struck out all nine Wellsville (0-4, 0-2 EMO) batters he faced in three innings.

Huff, Gaston, Gibson Condie and Gage Gibson each had two RBI against Louisiana, and Culwell pitched three innings with six strikeouts, two hits and one walk.

The Indians (4-3, 2-1 EMO) stole 12 bases against the Bulldogs, including three from Malik Douglas and two each from Gaston and Stanich.
