Bulldogs run away with Senior Night win, Lady Bulldogs slip in third quarter

Going into Monday night's Senior Night and Winterwarming doubleheader, the roles were flipped between Mexico and Moberly. The Lady Bulldogs had to face an eighth-ranked Moberly team and lost 68-50 despite only trailing 34-26 at halftime while the eighth-ranked Bulldogs picked up their pace against Moberly to win 77-39.

The Lady Bulldogs (10-14, 3-6 NCMC) were outscored 20-8 in the third quarter against a physical Moberly team and couldn't boost off a Claire Hudson 12-point second quarter. Hudson finished with 24 points, five rebounds and three rebounds, Grace Hudson followed with six points, and senior Jo Thurman had four points, five rebounds, four steals and four assists. Moberly (23-2, 9-0 NCMC) had a combined 40 points from Grace Billington and Asa Fanning, including 25 from Billington on a night she scored her 2,000th career point.

The Bulldogs (23-2, 9-0 NCMC) had a slim 18-14 lead after the first quarter after a PJ Perkins buzzer-beating 3-pointer but then allowed seven points in the second quarter and then scored 30 points in the third quarter. Senior DJ Long had two dunks in the second quarter, including his first that netted his 1,500th career points. He finished with 10 points, Perkins led with 19 points, Charlie Fisher and Kaden Benne each had 14 points, and Jaydon Eldridge finished with 12 points. Tyrese Rucker led Moberly (10-14, 3-6 NCMC) with 11 points.
