North Callaway's players, coaches and fans were celebrating like it was 1999 as the Thunderbirds won the school's first boys basketball district title in the 21st century. They defeated top seed Hermann 55-50 on Friday in the Class 3 District 7 tournament championship game at South Callaway in Mokane.
Matthew Weber, Sam Pezold and Isiah Craighead were named to the all-district team after being the team's top three scorers this season. Weber scored a team-high 20 points, Pezold sank a layup in the closing minutes and Craighead limited Hermann leading scorer and all-district player Parker Anderson to 12 points.
