Centralia hit another brick wall Thursday.
The Lady Panthers were shut out Tuesday at Blair Oaks and were close to the same result at home against Class 5 Battle, losing 11-1. Battle’s Ainsley Stubbs pitched seven innings with five hits, five strikeouts and one run.
Ellie Page was the only Lady Panther with two hits as Jozelynn Bostick, Makenzi Adkisson and Cora King each had one hit.
Centralia’s lone run came in the second inning to make it a 2-1 game. Page crossed the plate on a wild pitch, who was moved over to third base by Madi Johnson’s bunt after taking second on an outfield error.
Prior to that, Kaelyn Walters allowed two runs on three straight hits before eventually being knocked out of the game with one out in the fifth inning. Battle had five singles that made it 9-1 Lady Spartans after five. Adkisson came on in relief, inducing the double play to end the inning.
Walters allowed nine runs (six earned) with five strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings, and Adkisson allowed two more earned runs in her 2 2/3 innings.
Centralia moves to 3-5 with another home game at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday with Highland.
