Clinton Michael “Mike” Stegeman, 75, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital.

A mass of Christian burial will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at St. Brendan Catholic Church with Fr. David Veit officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park with military honors.

Visitation will be from 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home.

Mike was born on Dec. 10, 1946, in Jefferson City, the son of Alfred A. and Mardelle G. (Stone). He married Janice “Jan” Kenney on November 22, 1972, in Las Vegas. They were married 49 years.

Mike was a 1965 graduate of Mexico High School. After graduation, he joined the Air Force and was stationed in the Philippines. Mike enjoyed talking about his time in the Philippines. Recently, Mike was honored to go on Central Missouri Honor Flight #62. Every month Mike met with the MHS 1964 – 1965 class Veterans Lunch Group.

Other than living in Missouri, Mike and Jan have lived in Las Vegas and Arizona. While living in Arizona he became a fan of the Arizona Cardinals and Arizona Diamondbacks. Mike also enjoyed auto racing. He loved to make people laugh with his pranks, jokes, and stories. The stories go way back to his young school days to this past year!

Mike loved to travel and meet new people. Mike and his wife Jan celebrated their 50th anniversary early by going on a two-week cruise to Hawaii in 2019.

He is survived by his wife, Jan of the home; brother, Randy Stegeman (Stacey); sister, Sarah (Bobby) Meador; six nephews, Robert (Ginger) Meador, Mike (Lisa) Clayton, Brian Pargeon, Brad (Sherry) Stegeman, Guy (Tish) Kenney and Jeff (Sherry) Wulf; one niece, Julie (John) Johnson; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mardelle Stegeman; and two sisters, Sandra Dee Stegeman and Pam Freeman.

He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. The family would like to express their deepest thanks to the VA Hospital in Columbia for all of the excellent care Mike received while a patient there.

Memorials may be made to Central Missouri Honor Flight. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson St., Mexico, MO 65265.
