Expect to be back and running Thursday with more coffee, art

Driven by a love of art and coffee, Color Me Bleu Studio and Coffee Shop is aiming to return to the Mexico scene starting Thursday.

After closing to do some interior remodeling, the popular stop located at 123 North Washington on Town Square, the new hours will be Thursdays and Fridays 7:30 a.m. to noon and Saturdays 9 a.m. to noon for the near future but will be subject to change, according to owner Sharon Koontz.

Paint party nights will be Thursdays and Fridays and Saturdays.

“You may request a Sunday afternoon if Saturdays are all booked,” Koontz said. “I will be planning a month in advance so get on the books now.”
Koontz will be in her studio working on commission pieces on Monday through Wednesday, thus why the shop will not be open for commerce.

“I am so excited to put my emphasis back on my art and creating fun events for my community to partake in,” Koontz said.

She mentioned that time to schedule a group paint night with friends or family is encouraged as the holiday season approaches.

“Fall or Christmas themes: we will have canvases both canvas board and stretched canvas for you to choose from,” Koontz said. “We have the sled paintings which were very popular last year — and wood cutouts both fall and Christmas — watch for posts on what will be available.

“So, get on the books now because the calendar fills up fast.”

Then there is the coffee that many make trips over to indulge it.

Kids birthday parties can be scheduled on weekends while Koontz will have art classes for kids on Saturdays 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Koontz is looking forward to getting back to the routine after the store has been closed for about a month.

“We were closed because the back wall had two fine line cracks on the corner that needed addressed, and as we unearthed the brick from behind electrical boxes, stairs and gutters there was much needed repair,” Koontz said. “I felt like I needed to address. We all need to start with making our foundation secure before we continue any other work. I am a believer in our downtown square and wanting to keep the building as safe for future generations to come and I wanted to do it right.”

Going forward, Koontz plans to add some wood cutout projects and “the sleds against and also, we will be having painting snowman window classes. So many people have asked, and I am finally doing it.”

Koontz added that those classes will be held on Saturdays, and it will be “more of a workshop – probably five hours at least.”

Details will be announced shortly, according to Koontz.
