A four-run lead got away from Community R-6 on Tuesday night.

The Trojans led 7-3 going into the sixth inning at Class 2 Silex (4-1) but allowed three walks and three hit batsmen to reach base for a five-run frame and an 8-7 loss. Community pitching finished with six walks and three hit by pitches in the game.

Community (2-2) stayed warm at the plate during a cold evening, tallying eight hits and five doubles. Brant Cope had three RBI, and Mason Rohan gave the Trojans a needed cushion in the fourth inning with a bases-clearing double, making it 6-2 from 3-2. Caden Thomas had a RBI double, and Mason Carroll went 3-for-4 with two doubles.

On the mound, Carroll threw 75 pitches in four innings while only allowing two unearned runs on two walks and one hit along with six strikeouts. Cooper Rohan allowed one run in the fifth inning before his brother, Mason, relieved him in the sixth inning after the first two Owls reached base.

The Trojans struck out three times in the seventh inning to finish the game.

Community plays its Central Activities Conference opener at 5 p.m. Friday night at Madison (0-3).

The junior varsity Trojans won a three-inning game Tuesday at Silex 4-2. From the leadoff spot, Nik Crider finished 2-for-3 with the game-winning single in the third inning. After him in the order, Kaiden Erdel had two RBI.  Crider pitched an inning while Thomas and Houston Hogan both threw shutout innings.
