Aaron Carter of Martinsburg won the Missouri FFA Agricultural Mechanics Repair and Maintenance Entrepreneurship Proficiency Award at the 95th Missouri FFA Convention.
Carter, a junior at Community R-VI High School, is the son of Leslie Carter and the late Alan Carter. He is a member of the Audrain County R-VI FFA Chapter. His FFA advisor is Stacy French.
Carter’s supervised agricultural experience program consisted of restoring a 1967 Cub Cadet 104. He completed the work independently after consulting a mentor. Carter worked on wiring, painting, welding, replacing parts, and repairing parts of the engine.
As an FFA member, Carter competed in the meats evaluation career development event. He also attended the National FFA Convention & Expo and served at the Missouri FFA Convention as a delegate.
In addition to FFA, Carter serves as an officer on student council and for his local 4-H chapter. He is also captain of the scholar bowl.
Carter plans to continue restoring small tractors. After high school graduation, Carter plans to attend the Missouri University of Science and Technology to study engineering.
Proficiency awards recognize FFA members who excel as agricultural entrepreneurs, employees, or volunteers while gaining hands-on career experience. Agricultural mechanics repair and maintenance-entrepreneurship is one of 46 proficiency award areas recognized at the state level. Missouri FFA Foundation sponsored the award.
