Coyotes inconsistent in 41-31 loss to host Sturgeon

There were times Thursday that Paris could score and times it struggled against Sturgeon on the consolation semifinals of the Sturgeon tournament. The Coyotes lost 41-31 to be eliminated from the tournament and had its record fall to 4-13).

Paris only scored two points in the first quarter and five points in the third quarter, but the Coyotes took a 15-13 lead into halftime. Cayden Poddany had nine of his game-high 16 points in the second quarter. Walter Rucker followed with six points and seven rebounds. 

Sturgeon leading scorer Isaac Bolles was held from his usual 20 points to five points with Poddany defending him so Connor Lawson led Sturgeon (6-11) with 14 points, and Ethan Benskin had eight points, including two 3-pointers in the second half.

Paris plays at Lewis and Clark Conference foe Harrisburg (10-8) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
