Donald D. Lewis of Mexico, passed away peacefully on Tues., Jan. 16, 2024, at his home.

Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Mon., Jan. 22, at Arnold Funeral Home with Jay Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Don was born on Jan. 9, 1938, in Childress, Texas, the son of Robert and Ollie (Tracy) Lewis. He was married to Dee Anna (Craghead) Lewis for 25 years.

He is survived by four children, Tamara Ann Floyd of Jefferson City, Randall Dean Lewis of Pearland, Texas, Gina Kay (Steve) Freeman of Mexico and Shawn (Sara) Bromeland of Mahtomedi, Minn.; and a brother, Richard (Carrol) Lewis of Ashland.

Don was married to Jan (Sullivan) Lewis for 35 years, gaining a son, Mark (Amy) Wells of Mexico.

He worked for A.P. Green for over 30 years earning the nickname “Poodle Lewis.” Don raised dogs for many years under the kennel name Puppy Trax.

Don loved horses and showed them for the Missouri State Saddle Club Association and Mexico Wrangler Saddle Club. He enjoyed hunting quail and raccoon. He loved camping and trout fishing at Meramec Springs in St. James. Don loved each moment teaching his children, grandsons and great-granddaughters that using marshmallows was the best way to catch the most trout.

He loved dancing at KB Event Center and listening to country music. Don loved his many friends, family and especially his grandsons, Skylar Lewis, Dustin McCulley, Robert McCulley, Casey Cummings, Austin Wells and Jackson Wells; and great-granddaughters, Riley and Alayna.

Don was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kevin E. Lewis; wife, Jan Lewis; a brother, Bob Lewis; and a sister, Elaine Perkins.
