Dorothy Frances Carrie (Pehle) Guese

Dorothy Frances Carrie (Pehle) Guese was born October 2, 1931, in New Haven, Mo. She passed away peacefully at her home on November 9th, 2023, shortly after her 92nd birthday. 

Dorothy was the daughter of Edward and Lydia Pehle. Dorothy was confirmed at St. Peters Church in New Haven. She was a graduate of New Haven High School in May 1950. On June 25,1950, she married Robert (Bob) Guese. They lived at Senate Grove until Robert was called into the ministry on June 18, 1966, following a serious farm accident. 

Bob & Dorothy were in the Methodist Church Ministry for over 30 years. They served families all over Missouri and Dorothy kept in touch with many through phone calls and hand written letters and cards. Her devotion to the church began as a Sunday School teacher and Youth leader at Senate Grove UMC.  She had a special gift for leading Children's Church and connecting with the youth. She served as President of the United Methodist Women and was a District Officer in U.M.W. for 8 years.  She also served on the MO East Nominating Committee for 3 years. Dorothy was a member of McCredie United Methodist Church. She was also active in Extension clubs throughout her life. 

Dorothy was employed by Riverside Builders in Viburnum, K-Mart in Columbia, and Wal-Mart in Mexico until she retired January 18, 2013, after working there for 21 years and 6 months.

Dorothy is survived by her sister, Evelyn Baer of New Haven, son, Jerry Guese of Potosi, daughter Judith Harmon and husband Chris of Potosi, and daughter of Joni of Mexico.  She had seven grandchildren, Chris Blair, Chad Guese, Devonna Marshall (Eric Bohannan), Brandy Benke (Danny), Brad Guese, Tiffani Guese, and Brian Guese. Nine Great Grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Lydia Pehle, her husband of 61 years, the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Guese, brother August (Gus) Pehle, sister Marlene Bockting, sisters-in-law Shirley Pehle, Barbara Guese, brothers-in-law Virgil Pehle, Don Guese and many other family members.

Dorothy loved Jesus, all people, her card ministry, making quilts, and cooking. She loved to laugh and had a great sense of humor. Dorothy will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.

All Services will be held Sat., Nov. 25th, at Senate Grove Methodist Church, 4809 Hwy VV, New Haven, Mo. Visitation at noon, Funeral at 1 p.m. Burial and Fellowship Immediately following.
