A mass of golfers converged on LA Nickell in Columbia on Wednesday.
Mexico, North Callaway, Paris and Missouri Military Academy competed in the Harrisburg Tournament with eight other schools. Individually, 10 came away as medalists including Mexico’s Aidan Knipfel and North Callaway’s Davis Althiser.
Mexico finished the 18-hole event sixth after shooting a 368 but were led by the fifth-place 78 — three-way tie — shot by Knipfel. Jacob Stephens and Kaiden Doebelin followed Knipfel with a 90, which was six strokes away from the cutoff and behind the winning 75 recorded by Salisbury’s Nolan Gordon.
Althiser shot an 81 to tie for 10th and lead North Callaway’s ninth-place 380. Tyler Huddleston followed with a 94, and Ajay Roberts had a 98.
Jones finished 11th with a score of 82 to fall one stroke short of the podium but led Paris’ eighth-place 374. Evin Reichmann followed with a 94, and Mason Edwards and Reid Ragsdale each had a 99.
MMA had a 368 to tie Mexico for fifth place but were just outside the podium. Cooper Johnston and Gaston Gastelum tied for the Colonels’ top score of 89, and Gabriel Ontiveros and Joseph Roach each had a 95.
Thunderbirds take two all-conference nods at Sun Valley
North Callaway had a couple perform well at Sun Valley.
The Thunderbirds finished Monday’s Eastern Missouri Conference meet in Elsberry with two all-conference golfers as Davis Althiser placed fifth to earn first team all-conference while Connor Green’s 10th-place honor earned him second team all-conference.
Missouri Military Academy wins Calvary Lutheran Invitational
Missouri Military Academy won the Calvary Lutheran Invitational on Tuesday.
The Colonels were led by Joseph Roach’s second place score of 84, Cooper Johnston placed eighth with an 89 and Gaston Gastelum was ninth with a 90.
Centralia finishes third at Heritage Hills
Centralia played to a third-place finish on Monday.
At a nine-hole meet hosted by Westran at Heritage Hills in Moberly, the Panthers shot a 176 for the third-best score out of seven teams as Hallsville had a winning 166 along with the medalist and runner-up of Logan Cox and Weston Grant after both shot a 39.
Travis Brooks led Centralia with a 42, Cullen Bennett had a 43, Lule Sachs had a 45 and Carter Moss had a 46.
