Indians allow big inning, lose 8-1 to Wright City

Van-Far had that one inning it wanted to take back.

The Indians allowed six runs in the fifth inning on Monday at home to lose 8-1 to Eastern Missouri Conference foe Wright City (5-7, 3-1 EMO), who has won four straight. After No. 1 pitcher Reece Culwell ran out of pitches for the day, they were unable to turn one grounder into an inning-ending double play.

Wright City's hitters found the holes in the Van-Far infield to prolong the inning and were led by two RBI each from Jake Orf and Drew Elsenreth. Jack Goughenhour and Micah Boeckman combined to allow two hits and strike out nine in 6 2/3 innings pitched, only surrending one run in the second inning via a steal of home by Carson Huff.

Van-Far (6-8, 2-4 EMO) hosts conference foe Montgomery County (8-6, 4-0 EMO) at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
