TRACK ROUNDUP: Jensen, Forman stand out for Van-Far in Wright City

The Lady Indians gave Van-Far track and field a few standout performances on Thursday.

Mara Jensen finished second in the shot put at the Wright City Invitational while Brooke-lynn Forman finished third in the 1,600-meter run. 

Forman finished third in the 4x800 relay along with Trinity Skwirtz, Erin Childs and Madelynn Caldwell. Olivia Roed finished fourth in the shot put not far behind Jensen, and she and McKenna Engh-Hoffman each posted fifth-place finishes in the discus and 100 hurdles, respectively.

For the Van-Far boys, Caleb Hazel had the best finish with a sixth-place time in the 1600 while Gaven Gaston, Jackson Fischer and Evan Utterback each had a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter dash, discus and shot put, respectively.

Mexico boys run to fifth place in Boonville

The Mexico boys’ efforts resulted in a solid finish Friday in Boonville.

The Bulldogs were fifth in the team standings of the Jack McCush Invitational after collecting 11 medals, including three victories. Mexico had 85 points, which was behind winner Chillicothe’s 127 points.

Two of these wins were in the relay events as the 4x100-meter relay team of Anthony Shivers, Jordan Shelton, Alex Rowan and Morgan Grubb finished with a time of 43.76 — less than a second off the school record — and the 4x400 team of Shivers, Shelton, Tyler Grimes and Grubb won its race. Along with being third in the high jump, Shelton also had individual success by winning the long jump. 

Grimes, Andrew and Thomas Peuster and Davontae Frame teamed to finish second in the 4x800 relay, and others to be the runners-up in their respective events were Shivers in the 100, Grimes in the 800, Peuster in the 1600. Rowan was fourth in the 200, Thomas Peuster was fifth in the 800 and Kelley was fifth in the high jump.

For the girls, the 4x800 relay team of Viviana Benjamin, Maggie Ramsey, Emma Seibert and Sidney Turlington finished first. Ramsey ran to second place in the 3200, Seibert set a personal-best 54.03 in the 300 hurdles while finishing fourth, Alexandra Terry was fourth in the pole vault and Benjamin was fifth in the 800 with a season-best 2:47.48.

Myers wins discus for North Callaway girls in Owensville

At the Owensville Relays, North Callaway had someone shine in the field.

On Friday, Kymorie Myers finished first in the girls discus while several other Ladybirds were solid in the field events. 

Jalyn Leible was second in the triple jump, Ellie Bedsworth was third in the shot put and Lia Bondurant was fifth in the high jump. The 4x800 relay team was fourth, Pressley Schmauch was sixth in the 1600 and Cora Tripp had a sixth-place time in the 300 hurdles.

For the boys, Brendan Reinhard, Caleb Rohrbach and Tristan Young each were runners-up in the high jump, shot put and pole vault, respectively. Isiah Craighead was fifth in the javelin and the 4x800 relay team finished fourth.

Paris boys sit in middle of field at South Callaway

In a 16-team field on Friday, the Paris boys held their own.

The Coyotes were seventh in the team standings of the South Callaway Invitational in Mokane, tallying 48 points — South Callaway won with 102 points. 

Drew Williams led the boys runners with a second-place finish in the 800, the 4x400 relay team of Mason Edwards, Clayton Duncan, Drew Williams and Alex Williams was third, and Landen Chapman ran to fourth place in the 1600.

For the girls, Kaylee Johnson had the best finish by taking fifth in the 800.
